Frequently Asked Questions
Mist eliminators are specialized filtration devices utilized in compressed air and gas systems to effectively remove liquid aerosols, oil mist, and fine particulates from the airflow. Typically positioned downstream of compressors or aftercoolers, these devices address issues related to condensation and oil carryover. Additionally, mist eliminators serve as crucial protection mechanisms in the event of a catastrophic failure of a compressor’s air/oil separator.
A nano MEL mist eliminator operates by allowing contaminated air or gas, which often contains oil aerosols, water droplets, and solid particles, to enter the unit. The core coalescing filter, made from borosilicate glass fibers, causes fine liquid droplets to collide and merge into larger droplets, which then drain downward due to gravity. The collected liquid, typically a mixture of oil and water, flows into a sump or drain bowl for removal through a zero air loss condensate drain. The purified air or gas then exits free of contaminants.
The MEL range has a filtration performance of 0.3 micron at 99.97% efficiency.
The maximum temperature is 180°F.
The maximum pressure rating is 150 psig.
The MEL housings produced by nano are constructed from welded steel, providing robust structural integrity. They are coated with high-quality epoxy on the exterior to enhance durability and protect against environmental factors. These housings comply with ASME U-stamp standards and are registered with the CRN, ensuring their regulatory compliance and reliability. Internally, the filter element is reinforced with steel wire, offering additional support and stability for optimal performance.
A zero air loss drain is included as standard and will be shipped loose. Other condensate drains are available as options. Contact our support team for additional information.
